Arsenalen in Strängnäs has, from Armémuseum, got permission to renovate a tank m/21-29. The tank, with registration number 5, has earlier been placed in Pansarmuseet in Axvall.
The aim of the renovation is to get the tank able to drive and to look, as much as possible, as it did in the 1930s. Though there are a number of pictures and films that shows how the tanks looked from the outside, this ought to be possible. It is much more difficult to imagine how the tanks looked inside, though only two photos have been found where you could get a glimpse of parts of the interior.
The tank has been placed as a monument at P1 in Enköping until the early 60s. Then it was moved to Pansarmuseet in Axvall, where it was placed indoors. Due to this, the tank is in very good condition. It has not much rust damages and almost all permanent equipment is intact.
The renovation is made voluntary by members of SRMF, Sörmlands Regementes MuseiFörening, which is a non profiting association that supports Arsenalen.
The tank came to our garage in the summer of 2013 and the renovation started. We hope to have the tank ready to drive in the spring of 2016.
