The gearbox has three different sets of controls; transmission shift lever, reverse gear lock and lever for high/low gear (circled in the image). All three were stuck and could not be moved because of a lot of color and a little rust. After a lot of paint had been scraped off, the sliding surfaces was oiled and sliders exercised, we have got everything working again. It is fascinating that some oil and exercises can accomplish such miracles.
We have begun to assemble the steering gear. The steering gear housing with the crown wheel and pinion gears with associated control brake drums are screwed together. The entire steering gear is propped up on jack stands so that we get access to install all the stag and all other parts needed to get a working steering gear.
